let me see. i started in about sixth grade (at least that was my first conscious effort towards a poem) so that would be when i was about....ten or eleven. so i think we can agree it's a good age to start.

I am only 11. Though I shall be 12 on November 18. I started writing in 2nd grade. Actually I still have my very first story, it's the cutest, most dumbest story ever. But it always makes me laugh to think how naive I was. I adored that story when I first wrote it, I even drew little pictures on each page. I glued cardboard to it and made a cover for it and everything. I'm laughing just thinking about it.

I used to do little illustrated books a lot, haha, I'm laughing too. I started actually thinking about stories I'm pretty sure when I was in the fourth grade; and I'm in ninth so I've been writing for five years and I still am schooled by better writers... like all the time.

How can you feel intimidated with the kind of work you do? You should be uber proud of yourself! (Uber... I like that word. That's like my word of the day)

It's hard being the newbie ::sighs:: I don't like it either... eventually we won't be newbies though! We'll all be famous writers or something

hey, don't feel discouraged. at all. you guys are doing awesome. one of our very best writers(who i don't know what happened to her) started out actually pretty recently and was NOT very good but she wrote and wrote and wrote and became one of our best writers actually pretty fast. so just write as much as you can. and don't be intimidated, we are only here to help and be helped.

I agree with ScarletMornings, you guys are doing fantastically as it is and everyone gets better with practice. So keep on writing, we're here to help each other improve, so don't feel intimidated. I know I was a terrible when I first wrote a poem in first grade (oh god, it has made-up words in it and it doesn't really make much sense, my dad still has it in his office and whenever I read it I laugh hysterically and am slightly embarassed.) Yes, as Scarletmornings was saying Confusion started off rather badly but she got so incredibly good (I do wonder where she's been) and when I look at some of the first poems she posted and then some of the recent ones I'm just amazed by how much she's gorwn as a writer. look at me, rambling, people probably think I'm going to start a Confusion Fan Club or something, ha ha. Anyway, my point being just keep writing and you'll get better, and if we're lucky we'll get to help you get there.
