Always narrate from the third person.
Be original, unless it's a Roleplay like a Harry Potter Rp.
Know all the types of possible Roleplays.
Be courteous.
Don't kill unless the other person says it's ok, or it's a NPC.
Go along with the flow-e.g. When it's a medieval fantasy Rp, don't be some high-tech ninja.

Make it seem real.
Use proper punctuation and capitalize your letters. It tends to suprise people that way.
Make your character your own. Tweek them always and modify them, unless you are fully satisfied.
But most of all, have fun with it.
