all too familliar dungeon. The girls had passed through it earlier to enter the home. A strong scent of dry air and decay instantly stung Nina's nose and throat. That's the last place I want to go now, she thought. But Nina couldn't argue....

"QUick! Where's the door?" Mika's voice came frantically. Nina looked around, searching for it.
"It's not here!" The realization came, a sentence to something better left unsaid. Nina gave a quiet cry and began to feel the walls, searching for anything that might show them a way out. Mika was searching as well, her groping hands fleeing across the wall frantically.
The shadow-figure was coming closer now, his thudding footsteps echoeing towards them, a slow song telling of their end to come.

"I'm NOT going to die here!" Nina shrieked, and Mika immediately clasped her hand around her mouth, even though she knew it had already been heard. The shadow would find them anyway, but Mika still wanted to believed in the faint chance of escape. Hot, desperate tears began to pour out of Nina's eyes, and muffled sobs echoed all around them. Mika watched her friend spill out her endless fear and wished she could cry like this too. She had never cried; everytime she tried, a sob would come out as a hiccup, and all the water seemed to drain out of her eyes when she tried to cry. All they could do was just sit there in the corner, waiting for death (or worse, torture) to approach. The wavering fire of the torch signified the shadow dweller's approach. The evil, piercing laugh was obviously growing louder by the second, as well as Nina's sobs. Please, just one miracle. One solitary miracle and I'll ask for nothing more... Mika prayed as she squeezed her eyes shut. Please... please... one miracle... As she continued to repeat her hopeless prayer over and over again in her spinning head, she felt a burning teardrop tumble out of her left eye and trickle down her cheek. Fortunately, her first teardrop brought a miracle. For the next moment...

(No we're not ignoring it, we continued it. Fine Talisin, want some Ancient Egyption stuff? I'LL GIVE IT TO YOU!)
.....everything seemed to slow, and a brilliant light flashed. A low, pained screech shook the house. Nina remained low to the ground, and Mika did the same. When the shaking stopped, they both looked up. Instantly, they collaped back onto their hands and knees. It was the old pharoah, not of present-day Egypt, but one who's spirit was said to protect the amulet.....

Nina and Mika stared up at the massive, imposing figure. He turned his head slowly, taking in his surroundings. It seemed that he did not know where he was. The flash of light had slowed the heavy footsteps, but now they continued, eachoeing down to their hiding spot. The pharoah had not seen them yet, but he surely would in a few moments...
The shadow-man's silhoette filled the door through which they had come. His mirthless laughter filled their ears as he entered the room. As he caught sight of the tall pharoah, his laughter stopped abruptly. "So..." he said. "You've returned."

The pharaoh's face froze for an instant. Then he stared grimly at the shadow-man. "Yes," he told the shadow-man, "I am back. And this time I will not allow you to turn my land to evil!"
BANG!
Mika had knocked over an intricately designed vase. The shadow-man's head swiveled around. "YOU!" he yelled, for a moment forgetting the pharaoh. The shadow-man headed towards the corner where Mika and Nina hid, terrified. The shadow-man laughed mercilessly, "I'll teach you, child, never disobey your pharaoh!"
The pharaoh glared at the shadow-man, "I am the pharaoh! Never forget that." The shadow-man began to slowly lower his dark cloak. Nina whispered to Mika, "Uh-oh... He's gotten angry..." The shadow-man faced the pharaoh, "It's time to see who is the true leader." he said with conviction.

Nina and Mika watched the confrontation. The shadow-man and the pharaoh sped towards each other, arms raised, at preternatural speeds. They crashed together, and flew off in separate directions. The pharaoh landed in a pile of crates. Nina and Mika's views were obscured by the falling crates. The shadow-man, however, had been luckier.
He had crashed into the wall, then diffused into a puddle on the floor, black and corpulent, then transformed into that of a man. "My 'pharaoh'" he mocked, "My brilliant pharaoh. Battle me!" he shouted, and took a step toward the crates.
The pharaoh, his name lost to the ravages of time, leapt out of the pile of crates, clutching an ancient scimitar, which, Nina guessed, he must have obtained from one of the several broken crates. Some crates crashed against the wall, and the pharaoh landed on his feet, as light and graceful as a swan. The shadow-man chuckled. Nina and Mika watched in horror as the shadow-man's right hand transformed into a rapier...
