I need a quote or song!

I am looking for a quote or song with the theme of how time passes too fast and/or how you don't appreciate something until you've lost it. I've tried and tried to write something like this but I can't seem to do it justice.

I'm not sure if you're asking for an already written song or if you want one one of us has written. But if you wanted an already written one there's that one song by the Counting Crows,"Big yellow Taxi." One part in the chorus is
"Don't it always seem to go
