this is based off the book "the perilous gard" by elizabeth marie pope (AMAZING BOOK!!!!) in case any have read it and loosely off the ballad tam lin. this might not make as much sense if you haven't read either, though. oops.

Tonight
the night
the spirits walk
one night of madness
surreal
open the doors wide
close your eyes tight
hope the morning
comes soon
the fire roars
close your eyes

Tonight
the night
the fey burn
the teind payer
the king of the land
at his deathtime
embers
light the fire
burn the magic

Tonight
the night
the woman prays
for love
hold tight
dreams are quicksilver
on this night
so easy to lose
trust
wrap him close
ignore the horror

Tonight
the night
inhibitions gone
hidden behind masks
gilded gold
by the fire
she waits her turn
to claim him
teind payer
teind payer
do you love?

Tonight
the night
the dead roam
mingling with the fey
ambling through the open doors
no one dares to close
don't open your eyes
unless you fight
down by the flames
burning red and gold

Tonight
the night
hold him close
the fey will burn
if you can't trust
and hold tight
through it all
and love him
faith
teind payer

embers or escape?
