Shades
there are shades
stifling my light
lost light
of the soul
Gracious is the darkness
caressing darkness
Yet it binds more effectively
than the weight of the world.
I fear the dark
the unknown
but the dark belongs to lovers
what does that make me?
My candles are all gone
hope melted
rebellion burned
strength spent
trying to fight my darkness
his darkness
Now it's all so far away
blocked
by the shadow
his shadow
I reach but don't grasp
eyes blind
my glow is dim
darkened
by his shades
Love is all that burns still
barely there
melting one shadow
two
Can love glow steadily
to burn them all?

I, his light
all that keeps him here

a ray
in his darkness

my glow fades
so light a candle for my soul
