Tell me if this sounds any good. Such as, if you saw this on the shelf in a bookstore or library, would you be taking it home with you??
If its not exactly your cup of tea -as this obviously wont appeal to everyone, I ask if you could please do your best, even if it doesnt sound great to you, I'd at least like some constructive criticism if you dont like it, rather than "This sucks, I dont like it. Do fantasy (or some other genre)."
Thank you!! I hope you think this sounds good!! :-)
Setting: 1800s -just before the Civil War breaks out, large plantation in the south
Type: Love/Death, Drama, and Historical
Main Characters: Nicole Johannson, Jackson Thomas, Sean Rhode
Detailed Plot:
Nicole Johannson, an attractive but rather narcissistic (I have no idea if I spelled that correctly) young woman of 17 lives with her father on a plantation in South Dakota. When the story begins she is emotionally distressed as her romance with one of the plantation's slaves has just been revealed to her father. Mr. Ronald Johannson had been traveling into large cities in South Dakota, proposing business oppertunities to men he would like to collaborate with. Once he hears about the romance between his daugther and one of his slaves, Jackson Thomas, he has avidly been searching for a suitor.
A combination of emotional heartache and narcissim has kept her denying every man her father has brought home. But then someothing unexpected happens. When her father brings to the plantation someone who is seriously interested in accepting the Johannson proposition, Nicole finds herself smitten with the man at least a decade older than herself.
After a few weeks, a romance begins to bloom between Nicole and the potential business partner, Sean Rhode.
But after two-to-three months, Rhode breaks it off, claiming he is to old for her, declines the business offer, and intends to leave in a week.
Nicole is distraught. How could he do this to her!!?? She loved him and he just pushed her away after all they'd been through!! Well, she couldnt just step aside and let that happen, now could she??!! The next two days, she treks to the pharmicist in the closest town and orders a vial of cyanaide.
-You can imagine where this is going.
When she returns, it is the eve of Sean Rhode's departure. She slips the cyanaide into his glass before the final dinner begins.
The next day to "everyone's" surprise, Rhode has passed away.
Nicole takes it upon herself to find a proper resting place. -After all, they "had been close for several months."
She lies to her father, telling him she is tired of the plantation, it holds "too many tragic memories" and says she is going to the city.
Instead, she has a tomb constructed for Rhode. That is where Rhode will remain forever, and once it has been constructed, she vows to herself and her deceased lover that she will never leave, so they can be together.
Even in death.
