A World Unknown
The pitter patter of rain brought Masye to the window. Thunder boomed outside causing Kyli to awake with a little whine of fright. Masye walked over to Kyli and ran her hand down his smooth, scaly skin, causing Kyli to blow a contented puff of smoke.
It was boring here. Sure, Masye could always play with Kyli, her pet dragon, or explore outside, but she already knew every nook and cranny of her boundaries. Masye wanted some real adventure! She looked around her little cavern. The map in the corner caught Masye’s eye. There was so much to explore!! If only she could.
Thunder erupted from the sky once again, interrupting masye’s thoughts. Kyli squirmed above the rug he was sleeping on. That decided it, Masye wasn’t going to stand for it anymore. She was going to explore!
Masye was gathering her things when the pounding rain caught her attention once more and told her that she must first sleep out the storm.
As the bright rays of sun trickled across Masye’s face, she rolled over, pulling the sheets over her head in aggravation. Kyli, who had been curled up against Masye’s stomach, awoke at the sudden movement. Since he was already awake, he got up to stretch and shake all of the sleep left out of him.
Kyli wandered across the smooth dirt floor, you would never know it was dirt though, as packed, smooth, and shiny as any wood floor. But much more convenient, as anything spilled would simply soak into it. Kyli put his front paws on the closed door and curved his back, making an arch. He sat down in front of the door looking up at it with those never-forgiving, sad little puppy dog eyes. When no one let Kyli out of Masye’s room, he gave a small whine, causing Masye to groan a little. Kyli turned his scaly head toward where Masye was sleeping peacefully on her bed, causing the incoming sun to make his beautiful ruby colored scales make a wonderful display of color and shape across the ceiling, from which also dangled a few roots. Kyli then raised his leathery wings ever so slightly as a dog may do with its ears when it hears something exciting.
He turned back to the door and pushed at the crack with his snout, then he gave and outburst of air through his nose, causing a small burst of smoke in the hall. Next, he flew up to perch on one of masye’s shelves and emitted a small screech.
“Oh, Kyli…” Masye groaned, but only pulled the
covers farther above her head. Kyli cocked his head and took off into the small space of air in Masye’s room near the ceiling. He glided in circles there eyeing a window that might just be big enough to fit a small dragon. Kyli took the dive, and though it was a tight squeeze, he managed to pull in his wings and wiggle though the window.
The fresh smell of dew on the grass still lingered in the morning sunlight. Kyli flew just outside of the small cavern he had escaped from for a while and then set off into the woods to find his breakfast.
Dragons are carnivores and in order to keep them satisfied and not eat your other pets, you must let them loose into the woods around meal time unless you like the gory sight of ,depending on the size of your dragon, a mouse to a cow being eaten. On this morning, Kyli flew close to the ground. Every so often a ray of sunlight from above would catch him and Kyli would shine like the sun itself.
Kyli soon found a small rabbit and dove for it. The rabbit realized only seconds before it was grabbed by the scaly talons that it was to become the victim of an ambush. The dragon swiftly carried his prey across the sky, finally finding a clearing where he sat down, silently tearing the little meat that there was off of the rabbit.
That's it. Thanks!
