She said that, in the 7th Harry Potter book, Dumbldore will come back. Why? Because Harry Potter emulates Star Wars and Lord of the Rings so closely. He's either going to come back like Gandalf, or he's going to pull an Obi-Wan. Remember in 'A New Hope' when Vader is about to kill Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan is just like 'If you kill me, I shall become more powerful than you could ever imagine?' I think that's probably what Dumbledore will do, with all these "but he can't die unless nobody at hogwarts believes in him" theories.
I just thought I should say that.

Techinically he will. He's now a portrait on at the headmaster's office so Harry can go and talk to him whenever he feels like it. Dumbledore isn't exactly dead. He's kind of immortal now.

Those pictures aren't really alive.
It's a picture. It can't give Harry insight into anything new that's going to happen: it can only tell him about stuff that's already happened.

No. Isn't Sirius' grandfather on the wall? He talks, grumbles and has even said a little splurb about the war. I think Rowling did that on purpose.

Other than Kurai's point, Dumbledore won't be coming back. Harry just stopped trying to find a loophole so people can come back from the dead before he died. What would happen if Dumbledore popped up and said "Hello Harry!" and picked up where they left off? No I think Rowling meant that as long as we remember him, he'll be with us.

He is, but it's not like he can have this amazing insight into things like he did in real life. He carries messages and makes comments about what he sees going on around him, but he doesn't fortell the future or anything like that.
Magic can only go so far.

Dumbledore may make predictions though because he'll be able to hear what's going on from the Order. Even if he doesn't talk or give his insight, Harry may just watch the picture because I can imagine he's going to become quite moody.

Those predictions won't be as reliable. They'll just be watered down ideas that he can come up with from hearing watered down information from others. Remember that they have to have another portrait of themselves where they want to go. I doubt that the enemy is going to be hanging little pictures of Dumbledore all over their houses.

0.o Good point. But they still may ask his opinion once and a while, probably not as much.

I wouldn't place my own opinions in the hands of a painting on a wall.
However unskilled Rowling is, she's not stupid enough to have her characters stoop to that.

You really have to imagine if Rowling had more talent and skill. Just think how amazing the books would be.

The only problem there is that she doesn't.
That's why we have fanfictions.
